Pig’s heads are being left in areas associated in Muslim prayer in disgusting attacks on those practicing the religion.
The Islamophobic attacks use pig heads as a direct insult to Muslims, who abstain from pork because pigs are considered ‘impure’.
A decapitated head was found in the toilets of the mosque at the University of Western Australia on Sunday.
Images were posted online by Majdi Fal, while the post explained: “The toilet is a traditional Turkish toilet used mostly by Muslims for their ablution before performing their prayers.”
Fal asked for further incidents to be reported to the university authorities.
The UWA Student Guild posted on Facebook that it was an “unprecedented display of Islamophobia on campus”.
It added: “The UWA Student Guild strongly condemns this deeply damaging and offensive incident which is absolutely unacceptable. Acts like this are designed only to incite religious and racial hatred.
“The University and the Guild support and value a culturally diverse campus, where all students are accepted and no student should ever feel unsafe on campus or be discriminated against in any way.”
An employee of a mosque in north Philadelphia, USA, also found a severed pig’s head outside his workplace on Monday.
CCTV showed a truck which drove past the Al Aqsa Islamic Society, on Germantown Avenue twice on Sunday night at 11pm, reports Philly.com .
The second time, someone reached from the window of the red pickup truck and three something which rilled to the front door of the mosque.
Police and FBI agents are investigating, with Officer Pete Berndlmaier explaining: “If they get away doing something like that, they are going to up the ante.”
And late last month 14 pig heads were left at a refugee camp in the Dutch town of Eschmarkerveld, near the city of Enschede.
