I have abridged the following just a tad. (r.a. note)

The Daily Signal has done extensive reporting on an ongoing train-wreck in a public elementary school in Minnesota over the imposition of the transgender ideology on kindergarteners.
The debate pits parents of kids just out of diapers against school administrators in league with transsexual activists and at least one professional guild of psychologists.
As Kelsey Harkness reports, “It all started with a book: My Princess Boy.”
Quite obviously, the title gives the book away. Administrators of the Nova Classical Academy, a charter school in St. Paul, Minnesota, told parents that the book would be read in support of a “gender non-conforming” boy. Harkness reports that parents were urged by the school to talk about “gender identity” with their 5-year-olds.
Ten students transferred to another school. One mom told the Daily Signal that the little boy in a dress was having a “traumatic” effect on her daughter. Kids started asking their parents if they could choose their sex. Some kids informed their parents that this could be done.
The boy in question was impressed as a 2-year-old when his parents allowed him to watch the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show that starred Beyoncé. The boy started dancing like Beyoncé and said he wanted to be a girl. So, the parents let him.
The boy’s father told a local radio show that the boy, often dressed in a “jumper” with ribbons in his hair, faced bullying in class, but that the real problem was “from parents who objected to the school’s handling of the problem.” He said the objecting parents exhibited “fear and ignorance.”
The school brought in a representative of something called the National Association of School Psychologists to quell the concerns of parents. He told the parents that gender is a “social construct,” something the generally left-wing UN doesn’t even agree with. He said “gender identity” is the way someone lives and how their gender is expressed.
Given that the school is K-12, many parents were in fact concerned about the bathroom situation, having an older boy in a dress using a bathroom with little girls is shocking to many parents in the school and cause for grave concern.
Though the controversy roiled the school, even some of the parents seemed to object only because of the age of their kids. The school’s “gender and sex-ed” policy teaches trans-sexualism in the 10th grade. One of the fathers who objected to the program actually said he “loves transgender kids, too.”
As to the bathroom question, the school will allow boys in dresses into the girl’s room “on a case-by-case basis” and will require “preferred gender pronouns” on a case-by-case basis. The school is giving boys and girls the option to wear “whichever uniform they want.”
